Happy CAP Training to YOU!

Our Algebra 1 Genius Hour session via Skype for Wednesday, February 26 has been cancelled.

Please review the following outline from the cancelled session as we will continue our quadratics discussion at the next Genius Hour session on March 12.

Quadratic Functions Overview

The Algebra 1 Genius Hour session was fast and furious! Be sure to spend time reviewing standards and pondering quadratics in the next two weeks. In particular, please contemplate Unit 9 #15 on the review document. Today was just an introduction to help us shift gears to a new function and prompt future discussion...and I look forward to our next sessions!

Meanwhile, the first post in the Quadratic Functions series is live on the Algebra 1 page. Continue thinking about the "same song...new verse" thought we discussed at the conclusion of our session. Is there a previous foundation that may be shaky? Assess and utilize the extra moments between now and the quadratics unit to revisit any concepts that may need refreshed.

Next time we will investigate and debate approaches to graphing quadratic functions, applications, and how to transition to solving quadratic equations.

Happy Snow Day to YOU (again)!

Our MATH-8 Genius Hour session via Skype for Wednesday, February 5 has been cancelled.

Bundle up with a set of AngLegs and review these concept builders for your upcoming geometry unit.

Happy Snow Day to YOU!

Our MATH-7 Genius Hour session via Skype for Monday, February 3 has been cancelled.

Please review the MATH-7 probability standards and this sample assessment document. Keep in mind that the Common Core State Standards do not include any probability content until Grade 7. And the next extension of probability is slated for Geometry (or perhaps Algebra 2 in BPS) with conditional probability, combinations, permutations, etc. However, current Grade 7 students have experience with the probability of simple events from elementary school and generating frequency tables from middle school math. Be prepared to discuss your thoughts and reflections on these questions with your team.

Sample Assessment Resources

Session notes for a piece of the geometry unit will be posted on the MATH-7 tab. Stay tuned for an updated link...
